The Foundation’s building was conceived by the visionary architect W.R. Lethaby and completed in 1894, embodying the ideals of the Arts and Crafts movement. Its architecture reflected a belief in the unification of art, design, and craftsmanship. Within its walls stood a grand entrance hall, an expansive library, a theatre, a gymnasium, and a network of classrooms and studios dedicated to printing, lettering, and typographic study. Every space was designed with purpose — to inspire creativity, encourage collaboration, and support the education of future craftspeople. Over the decades, the Foundation became a cornerstone of the printing and graphic arts community, nurturing generations of artists, designers, and typographers.
