Mynor draws its foundations from the early machine-readable typefaces of the mid-20th century — most notably OCR-A and OCR-B. These pioneering designs, developed for optical character recognition systems in the 1950s and 1960s, were engineered for utility rather than beauty. Their stark geometry and exaggerated letterforms were created to ensure machines could distinguish each character with absolute precision. Mynor revisits that era of typographic pragmatism and reinterprets it through a modern lens, preserving the functional essence while introducing proportion, rhythm, and warmth suited to contemporary design. While OCR-A projected a mechanical austerity and OCR-B introduced a more humanist refinement, Mynor finds equilibrium between the two. Its design language combines the strict modularity of early digital systems with a soft, tactile quality that enhances legibility on both screen and paper. The result is a typeface that feels efficient but not sterile — structured yet approachable. With multiple weights, widths, and numeral options, Mynor adapts across technical interfaces, editorial environments, and identity systems with ease.
