“Simplicity and common sense should characterise planning and strategic direction”. Ingvar Kamprad
Size
The first generation of microcomputers emerged in an era when processing power and memory capacity were extremely limited. These early machines had neither the resources nor the necessity for the sophisticated, multitasking operating systems that had already been developed for large mainframes and minicomputers. Instead, they relied on minimalistic operating systems, often permanently stored in read-only memory (ROM). These stripped-down programs, commonly referred to as monitors, provided only the most essential functions—allowing users to load, examine, and execute machine code while managing simple input and output operations. As microcomputers evolved, so too did their software environments. One of the first widely adopted disk-based systems was CP/M (Control Program for Microcomputers), developed by Gary Kildall at Digital Research in the mid-1970s. CP/M established many conventions that became standards for personal computing, including command-line interfaces and file management structures. Its design influenced countless systems that followed, most notably Microsoft’s MS-DOS, which closely mirrored CP/M’s architecture and command syntax. When IBM selected MS-DOS—branded as IBM PC DOS—as the operating system for its landmark IBM PC in 1981, it helped standardise personal computing and solidify Microsoft’s dominance in the emerging software industry.

Nauman Neue
Information

Nauman Neue is a modern humanist sans-serif typeface designed specifically for screen use. It features broad, open letter forms that are carefully crafted with precise geometry, resulting in a functional and legible font. This typeface is well-suited for various on-screen applications, such as web design and digital interfaces, where readability and clarity are crucial.

One of Nauman Neue's notable strengths is its ability to maintain clarity even at small point sizes, making it an excellent choice for situations where space is limited. In 2021, Nauman Neue underwent expansion, offering a total of sixty styles, including two widths—condensed and semi-condensed. This variety allows for flexibility in design, accommodating different visual preferences and layout requirements.

Included in the font are 900 characters per style, ten weights and three widths with matching italics. OpenType features consist of seven numerals variations, including inferiors, superiors, fractions, tabular, lining, and old-style. It also has alternate a, e, I, M, small caps, arrows and language support covering Western, Southern, Central Europe and Vietnamese.
